RACE MISSION

To promote exercise and healthy activity for all ages and to build a sense of community ownership and involvement with the Metropolitan Branch Trail in neighborhoods to which it is adjacent through an annual 5K race/walk.

5K DEMOGRAPHICS

For the 3rd Annual MBT5K, we are expecting up to 500 area runners to register. The 5K race is the most popular distance in the country for runners. The average demographics for participants in 5K races are:

• 50% male • 50% female • 12% age 19 and under • 48% between ages 19 and 40

• 39% over age 40 * nearly all participants are expected to be local DC / VA / MD residents
